REVIEW: X-Shot Excel Vigilante

Admittedly, I have wanted a Vigilante since I discovered it was a thing. The old black and green scheme really did it for me too. Now X-Shot have lifted their game with the Excel series in blue and yellow.

Elite Vulcan, Strikeblade, Fusefire box and farewell to Big Pete

A lot can happen in six hours. I went to bed at midnight and woke up at 6am and had 20+ emails telling me about these...

A email which that I got and read with my eyes.

Hi all. I get quite a bit of mail now since people got to my site (probably by accident). Most of them are questions about "which is better" or questions about commissions. And then, there was this one...

MOD GUIDE: Nerf Mega Magnus

I love the Magnus. But if you're like me (and if you are, I'm so sorry) you're not happy with a blaster until you've squeezed just that extra bit out of a blaster. I wanted to combat the dart capacity first but also, see if something can be done to increase dart velocity.

Patent reveals how "smart-ARs" work & four barrel Triad

A recently published patent (US8567378 B2) reveals how the intelligent air-restrictors work in the Roughcut, Triad and Crossfire, and reveals the Triad was originally going to have four barrels?

Zombiestrike Super Soaker... no, you heard me correctly

Umm, what? Was my exact reaction when Smeagolsaur from the Nerf subReddit found these.

Ricochet Box Art, More Jolts And A Rant

Early Crossfire Box Design Reveals Zombiestrike's Origins!

By now you all know that the Zombiestrike line is a receptacle for rejected Elite and Vortex blasters. But was it really? Recent evidence has been found (on Baidu... where else?) that might suggest that Zombiestrike wasn't originally meant to be a line of it's own.

What's Next For Mega?

The Centurion has been around for a while now and I wouldn't consider it new anymore, and we've been flooded with pics of the Magnus to the point where it too is starting to become old too. But, where does Nerf's Mega line go from here?

OPEN MIC NIGHT: what do you hate about a blaster you like

We all have a blaster that we hate for a number of reasons and for many it's the Deploy and Centurion for obvious reasons. But, what about the blasters you like? What do you hate about a blaster that you like?

Hasbro, stop giving us Jolts!

Since the first Jolt appeared in 2011. People have been impressed with just how much power the little blaster has. Before the Triad made an appearance two years later, it was everyone's choice of a last resort blaster or the first blaster they integrated into another by attaching it to the fore grip of a pump-action blaster. Since then Hasbro have been using it as their entry level blaster for every sub-line, so here's a recap.

REVIEW: Prime Time Toys Quickfire Powerstrike 24

Right now, Nerf is king and to the uninitiated, other branded foam dart blasters are referred to as "Nerf" as well. Now, to automatically assume that every Nerf blaster is good would be wrong. Need I remind you of the Mega Centurion and the Deploy? To assume that any blaster that isn't Nerf is bad would be wrong too, and and example of that is the Quickfire Powerstrike 24 from Prime Time Toys.

HvZ (Humans vs Zombies) has been around for a while now but has never seen any recognition from Hasbro. But, with the Zombiestrike line, Hasbro have said "yes we know you're there" and have started with the Hammershot and Sledgfire. Thanks to Jay Nerf, I've got my grubby hands on a Hammershot :)

REVIEW: Elite Rayven "Stinger" CS-12

I like bul-pup blasters, there aren't too many of them though. At the moment the Rayven is the only bul-pup blaster available. The original was an alien vomit green colour to try and match the green of the glow-in-the-dark darts. The we (not Australia or New Zealand though) got the Elite Rayven. In Elite blue, it finally matched the colour of the current line. Now we have the Elite Rayven Stinger, in N-Strike yellow.

Nerf Or Somethin' (Else) : X-Shot

MOD GUIDE: Nerf Elite Retaliator

Ahh the Retaliator, as a pistol it's good, as an "assault rifle" it's not so good. Taking your hand off of the fore grip to prime before taking your next shot annoys me, but as a pistol, it's very good. So let's make it better.

MEGA Centurion, the aftermath

Us Aussie Nerfers are at a bit of a disadvantage. We're usually the last to get new blasters (still no Elite Rayven here) and when we do get them they've been castrated by the needlessly strict Australian Toy Safety Regulations. Having said that though, I must commend Hasbro for bringing the Rapidstrike and Centurion over here so quickly. And Now that I've had some time with the Centurion, I though I'd share my experiences with it.

Aahh the mobile mini game. Video games for people that don't like or understand video games. I would consider myself a gamer, but nowhere near has hardcore as others. What Women Think About Rebelle

I was wondering, what do females really think of Rebelle. Male Nerfers are divided on it, many (including myself) like the idea of trying to attract women and girls to Nerf. More Nerfers and Nerfettes is a good thing right? Well, I decided to ask a few of my female co-workers, what they though of the Rebelle line. And for an unbiased answer, I asked non-Nerfers only and got mixed responses.

Mention "Nerf Modder" and names like Bobololo, Coop and Lord Draconical come to mind. But, there are several more out there and some of them are very good at what they do but aren't as popular as the "established" modders. One of which is Jay Nerf. His honest, genuine, informative and unbiased videos are the reason I regard him on par with the likes of the established modders. So I took the time to chat with him and ask him a few questions.

Wow, just wow. Us bloggers sure have been busy over the last few months. With Rebelle, Zombiestrike, Rapidstrike CS-18, Mega Centurion, Sonic Ice, Vortex repaints, Vortex Revonix 360 and the Elite Spectre. And with the amount of commitments I have outside of this blog, it's been hard to keep up with it all. More recently we've been seeing repaints of the existing Vortex blasters, Sonic Ice Elite and now an Elite Stryfe Mission Kit. Nerf Elite Rampage mod guide

The Elite Rampage is my favourite blaster. The Elite Alpha Trooper gets a lot of attention but I feel that too much focus is given to it really. I understand that it's a good performer in a compact form factor, but, it and the Elite Rampage are effectively the same blaster.

In this guide I'll take you through the following:
- AR removal
- plunger padding
- half prime lock removal
- spring replacement (OMW 5kg spring)
- teflon taping the O-ring seating
- relubing the plunger tube

Nerf Dart Tag Speedswarm review

IF you've ever needed an excuse to shoot at other people with Nerf blasters (excluding HvZ and Nerf Wars) Dart Tag is it. Dart Tag is not a new thing, it's been around since 2003 but in 2011, the current line of Dart Tag blasters (current at the time of me writing this) was released. New design, new mechanics (mostly) and all in yellow. Of the new designs there are two fully automatic blasters, the Speedswarm and the Swarmfire.

Nerf N-Strike Maverick REV-6 mod guide

Ahh the Maverick. It's the highest selling Nerf blaster ever for a good reason. It's awesome. But now we have the Elite series and the Maverick is starting to look underpowered compared to its successor the Strongarm. Good news is, we can give the ol' Maverick some extra oomph.

We'll be covering:
- AR removal

- full barrel (but actually a cylinder) drop

Nerf N-Strike Stampede ECS review

You've gotta love big guns. There is a child's voice inside us all that says "WOW, LOOK AT THAT GUN! IT'S HUGE". And this applies to all guns, whether it be an actual firearm, Airsoft, Nerf, or in a video game. The Stampede and Vulcan are no exception. It's never a question of "do you like big blasters or small ones?", no. It's more like "do you prefer the Stampede or the Vulcan?", and the answer is never "neither".

Leyuan Hotwheel Semi-Auto Soft Bullet Gun review

There are several alternate brands to Nerf, currently Buzz Bee is a distant second but after that the rest of the brands are kind of mashed up. One of those brands is Leyuan. Leyuan started with copying the Nerf Barricade. They called it the Raging Fire but didn't bother to remove "Barricade RV-10" from the side of the moulding.

The N-Strike Recon's performance wasn't really too good but the reason it was popular with Nerfers was because of the accessories that came with it. It's Elite follow-up, the Retaliator, can accessorise too, but now it can also perform.

Nerf N-Strike Rayven CS-18 review

Before the Rayven, there was the Firefly. A bullpup design blaster that had an 8 dart cylinder in it made of clear plastic to allow light through to "charge" the glow-in-the-dark suction-cap darts. Fast forward a few years and the Firefly blaster name has been dropped, but as a "tech" it continues in the Rayven.

Nerf N-Strike Barricade RV-10 review

Dual wielding the Maverick or Strongarm can be a cumbersome affair. If you're going to dual wield anything, it needs to be light and semi-auto at least. This is where the Barricade slips in.

Nerf N-Strike Elite Rampage review

The N-Strike Raider Rapid Fire CS-35 is an "either you like it or you hate it" type of blaster. The 35 dart drum gave you a good amount of blasting before the need to reload but the weight was an issue for some and it did impede visibility. The reverse type plunger was was an issue for some too but slam-fire was a nice inclusion.

Nerf Vortex Pyragon review

Since Nerf released the Vortex line, its blasters have been missing one thing. Slam-fire, but worry no more because we now have the Pyragon.

Nerf Vortex Praxis review

The Vortex line is poo-pood by hardline Nerfers, but, the Praxis is probably the first of Vortex blaster you'd arm yourself with in a war (an indoor one).

Nerf N-Strike Elite Firestrike review

The Nite Finder won hearts as a direct plunger pistol blaster and became more popular due to the almost endless array of cosmetic modifications. Then came the Elite series and the Firestrike, the Nite Finder's successor, It features the same stuff as the Nite Finder, stalk type primer, holder for 2 extra darts, red sight light and tactical rail. The plastic had a quality feel to it and the orange, blue and white colour scheme looks good on this blaster.

Nerf N-Strike Elite Strongarm review

The N-Strike Maverick is still (to date) the best selling Nerf blaster of all time, but it shows its age. A combination of price, dart capacity and ease of use (not to mention the manly feel of a six-shooter in your hand) led to the success of the Maverick. Then Elite happened and it spawned the Strongarm. This slick looking six-shooter features a direct plunger, tac rail, 2 anchor points for a shoulder strap and the good ole 6 dart capacity we've come to love, with slam-fire :)

Nerf N-Strike Elite Stockade review

The Barricade RV-10 is an ideal candidate for dual wielding, but there is always room for improvement, that is why the Elite line exists. Enter the Stockade.

Nerf Vortex Diatron review

If you've never played with a Diatron before the best I can describe it is; it's like a Vigilon that can fire two discs at once. That's exactly what it is like.

The Diatron is one of the new Vortex blasters and features the new (and AMAZING) colour scheme. Gone are the days of the Alien vomit green. Nerf have also stopped trying to make the Vortex blasters looks like Alien guns and have gone for a more industrial look and me likes it.

Nerf has posted Zombie Strike promo images on their Facebook and Instagram sites overnight.

Nerf N-Strike Elite Rough Cut 2X4 review

Fans of Nerf blasters and shotguns liked the N-Strike Barrel Break. It had a loading style akin to a double barrel shotgun and one that was unique to Nerf blasters (previous or present). The Rough Cut 2X4 is its Elite successor.

Buzz Bee Jaguar review

Buzz Bee are a funny brand. I get the feeling they can produce blasters that are as good as what Nerf give us but for some reason they are holding back... strange. Don't get me wrong, Buzz Bee make some good looking blasters and have some interesting concepts, but this doesn't mean too much with if they can't produce a performing blaster. The Jaguar is...

Random Shadow 09's Mega Centurion range test

Congratulations to Random Shadow 09, the proud father of a bouncing baby Centurion.

He goes into some depth about the blaster too, how it primes, ammo comparison and even explains the two "clunks" people have been hearing when it's been fired. He complete testes (flat with barrel off and on)

Zombie Strike confirmed for Australia?

Random Shadow 09 found this on Baidu and it looks promising for Australia.

It's a Hammershot with a grey trigger.

My Last Dart's request.

So it turns out my Zombiestrike Blade alternative design concept is popular... this one,

My Last Dart likes it too, but he also had this to say...

Something is happening in US at the moment!

So in the last few hours, here's what's happened:

Kmart, Walmart and Toys r Us (in USA) all now have the Mega Centurion available for pre-order on their websites:

Mega Centurion now available for pre-order at (USA)

If there are any USA readers here, look at this:

Toys R Us (USA) have the Mega Centurion available on their website

Nerf Mega Centurion is now available for pre-order on the Toys R Us USA website:

Zombiestrike, there is still time to fix it!

So now that we've had time to vent our disappointment at the revealed 2014 Zombiestrike blasters and blade, I though I'd take a moment to think about the Zombiestrike line logically for a moment.

The first thing we need to consider is that these blasters have not been officially announced by Hasbro yet (I think, they still deny ZS is even a thing yet). But even if they are (officially announced), these are 2014 blasters (and blade). There is still time for Hasbro to gauge the feed back and make changes to the aesthetic design, yes, I'm implying that these leaks were intended.

Zombiestrike Blade as it should've been

So with the all the noise about the 2014 Zombiestrike products being recycled rejected designs. There hasn't been much said about the Zombiestrike Blade. It doesn't look pseudo post-apoc like the Hammershot and the Sledgefire (neither do the rest of the blasters really). But, the design of the sword really bugged me. If there was a zombie apocalypse and you were to grab a blade weapon, it would not be a sword would it. And even if it was, a broad sword? No.

You'll need something lighter than a sword, but at the same time, with a blade long enough to take off an undead head quickly, but no so long that you can't sheathe it. So a knife right? But it has to be a big knife.

Hasbro has created Nerf zombies!

It has just occurred to me that the Zombiestrike line is very well named!

What is a zombie? It's something that was once living that has died and then been brought back from the dead (made undead). So, knowing that and seeing the 2014 Zombiestrike blasters looking like designs that were once going to happen then killed off and then brought back to life, you can't help but wonder if this was intended from the start (part of an elaborate troll form Hasbro?) or purely

Australia in no Stryfe at all.

When we love something or someone, we do so regardless of their flaws. And while we all do love Nerf, they are not with out their flaws.

Now I'm not talking about Zombiestrike (there will be another post about that soon). I'm talking about the painfully long time it's taking Nerf to release the Stryfe here in Australia. The Elite Stryfe has been out in the USA since late 2012, it's July now and sill no Stryfe for us :(

Granted we get some blasters before the USA such as the Barricade and Elite Stockade, but I don't think USA Nerfers had to wait almost 8 months (that's 3/4 of a year) for them! I understand Nerf being a USA company will want to favor it's USA fans first, or if Nerf are testing the local market with a new blaster before sending it overseas... but 8 months? Surely you've collected all the data you need to make a decision by now? Haven't you Nerf?

"Elite" Crossfire with Stockade shoulder stock

So Bazookafied took Matt Robinson's Elite moc-up of the Zombistrike Crossfire crossbow and made it look more Elite-ish, so I went one step further and put the Elite badge on the handle and put a Stockade shoulder-stock on it... actually looks OK. I had to take the photo of the shoulder-stock myself because Google couldn't provide a pic at the right angle.

Zombiestrike... Vortex and Elite leftovers?

Some guy called Matt Robinson posted an image of the Zombiestrike Crossfire in Elite colours seen here...

so I decide to do the same with the Fusefire

Zombie Strike Line-up revealed (unofficially)

Pics have emerged revealing the Zombiestrike line-up for 2014. We all know the Hammershot and the Sledgefire...

But we didn't know that the Zombiestrike line included some Vortex blasters too...

Leyuan/Zecong, never heard of them? Read on...

If you've never heard of Leyuan that's ok. Not a lot of people have. However some have heard of the Photon Storm (thanks to SG Nerf) and the Raging Fire (Barricade rip-off). Well after they got tired of copying Nerf (and Buzz Bee) they started to make their own blasters and some of them look ok. They still make the rip-off blasters (they make a white barricade that is kinda cool), but some of their original blasters look ok. There is the link to their blasters gallery:

Older Vortex blasters get new paint job

It was a long time coming, but Nerf have finally decided to get rid of the alien puke green and have gone for a blue-on-white look, it's a welcome change, but (in my opinion) it doesn't look as good as the red, white and grey of the newer Vortex blasters.

You be the judge.

Credit goes to "Dave" from Tennessee.

Sonic Ice Rampage unboxing

Thanks to Wei Ping from Baidu, we can now have a look at the Sonic Ice Rampage in its entirety. So far as we know, there are no performance upgrades (not that it would really matter in Australia anyway) it's basically a Sonic series for Elite Blasters. No word on an Aussie release date yet.

Keep an eye on eBay!

So it looks as though, not only did someone derp on the Rapidstrike's release date, they also forgot to carry the one when pricing them, these were going for just US$10 each!!!

Zombie Strike Sledgefire pics!

Pics have popped up on the net of the yet to be released Zombie Strike Sledgefire. At first glance it appears to load like a Barrel Break but it's primed with the hammer and it's got shells!!!

More Mega blasters for American Spring next year.

Some guy called Alexandre Champoux found a not so hidden piece of info on a box of Mega darts. It clearly states that we can expect more Elite Mega blasters next year. However, one of the rumored blasters is called the Javelin. Will these darts work in a blaster with a name that suggests large ammunition? Only time will tell.

Zombie Strike Hammer Shot boxart revealed

Overnight, Images have emerged on the net of the yet to be released Zombie Strike Hammershot, and we likes the way it looks :)

We're on YouTube!

We now have our own YouTube channel!

It's early days yet but the videos are going up. A special thanks to Rob of Death By Foam for getting us started!

Nerf in last quater of 2013

The last quarter of 2013 looks to be a busy time for Nerf and exciting for us.

RAPIDSTRIKE CS-18 will cost $64.99, to be released in September

MEGA CENTURION will cost $74.99, to be released in October

REVONIX 360 will cost $74.99, to be released in September

These blasters will cost more for us Aussies than they do for our USA compatriots, and will likely be tuned down as well to comply with Australian safety regulations.. fail.

As for Rebelle... I dunno, but we can expect Target to get 2 exclusive Zombie Strike blasters, the Hammershot and something called a "Sledge Fire" in October

Centurion: reverse plunger!!!???

Pics of the Centurion's internals have popped up on Nerf Haven revealing a REVERSE PLUNGER!

How can it be an "Elite" blaster with a reverse plunger? IT CAN'T!

Guess we'll have to call it the "Failturion" now.

Thought I'd give Taobao a look and this is what I found!

Basic Nerf got his lucky hands on a Mega Centurian... so jelly.

Building our site

We're slowly building our site, have a look around and let us know what you think.

We're still new.

We're a new Nerf Club and are trying to build numbers. When we get an actual "club" together, we will be having wars, HvZ games, show'n'sell meets, mod workshops and general meetings.

This site is still under construction... mind the mess.
