MOD GUIDE: Nerf Elite Retaliator

Ahh the Retaliator, as a pistol it's good, as an "assault rifle" it's not so good. Taking your hand off of the fore grip to prime before taking your next shot annoys me, but as a pistol, it's very good. So let's make it better.

Firstly remove the screws form the end cap (the but the shoulder stock attaches to). The screws holding this in are different from the others so you'll need to keep them separate.

Then undo the rest of the screws. The screw in the bottom left screw hole is longer than others, bear this in mind.

The priming slide doesn't come off of the blaster, it will come apart with the shell itself. Now take the blaster apart. Keep an eye on the dart holder in the handle and the tac rail lock, especially the tac rail lock, it'll launch into orbit and you'll never find it.

Not the holes in the bolt sled, these are for pegs in the priming slide. Important info if you want to put the blaster back together. Removing the AR is easy enough, it's the same as the Rampage and Elite Alpha Trooper. Take out the bolt sled and the dart chamber. Carefully, using a flat head screwdriver and a hammer, tap out the AR and it's seating. I use a sharpened flat head screwdriver, this aides in preventing the chamber from warping and make removing the AR easier.

Take out the plunger from the tube and take off the O ring, wrap 1 or 2 layers of teflon tape around the O ring seating then put the O ring back then lubricate it with a rubber friendly grease (teflon, silicon, lithium) put the plunger into the tube.

With the stock spring, you won't need to pad the plunger. So you can put the blaster back together now. However, if you're planning to install a stronger spring, my advise is leave the AR in. Because the plunger is too hard to pad and leaving the AR in will prolong the life of your blaster.

Once the stronger spring is in, put the blaster back together. Make sure the holes in the bolt sled align with the pegs on the primer. And your done, it's as easy as that.

No photos for this guide because I feel that the Retaliator is an easy blaster to mod, but, there is a video for you to enjoy too.
