Nerf Elite Rhino Fire!! (it's kind of a big thing)

So Appearing on Amazon.es, the Elite Rhino Fire. Sporting a 90 foot range and many other features. But, will this white Rhino become extinct before it's born, like the Cam ECS-12?

I'll show you a pic first...

There are a few things that stick out in this pic.

Firstly The wobbly barrels. The rest of the pic is in focus, so why not the barrels? Do they move? Do they have a recoil action? There is a concertina rubber sheath on the barrels, so maybe they do recoil? Maybe they vibrate? Like some sort of haptic feedback when you fire? I guess we'll know later.

Then there is the speculation whether this is a motor driven plunger or flywheel? Well. Look as the second to right highlighted section. Looks like flywheels could fit in there.

But draw your eyes to the second to left highlighted section, the bit that looks like R2D2's dome. If that's a motor housing. Then that's a BIG motor! If it was drawing back two plungers at the same time, it'd need to be big. But flywheels are more energy efficient and (from an engineering POV) would be a step backwards. So, could that be a mechanism that drives two dart pushers and moves the barrels? Who knows? But my money is on the recoil mech.

Then there is what appears to be an aircraft style switch cover on the back. Like the Vulcan. Because those are cool.

More pics...

Well it doesn't look as though the barrels alternate. Both at once it seems according to the pic. But... if the barrels recoil, then it would look a crap tonne cooler if they did alternate (not to mention it would be easier to balance). And there is also a Vuncanesque Tripod, possibly indicating that this is the Elite successor to the Vulcan.

Now onto ammo capacity. Fifty darts it appears. Via two 25 dart Rampage drums. Sounds awesome until you have to reload them. Which I'm guessing will be a bit of a bother since the clips are on opposite sides of the blaster. And you'll run out of both at the same time too, so instead of having to reload one mag, there are two now. YAY! (that was sarcasm). And, if this thing is being carried, how do you press the clip release button and take out the clip? One hand has to be holding it, right? Even if the clip release is located near the trigger (think Rapidstrike), how is your shooting hand going to support all that weight while the supporting hand changes the clip, on both sides?

It'll go like this:
VVVVVRRRRRRZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK THCK ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRV

"Don't shoot me I'm reloading!"

*puts blaster on the ground*

*takes out right clip and puts in full one*

*takes out left clip and puts in full one*

*picks up blaster, continues to make arms tired with big blaster*

*leave drums on ground because they don't fit in pockets*

*some arse hole steals them*

At least that's the way it played in my head.

And what is going to be powering this behemoth? AAs? Nope. With all the motors in this thing, it'll need something bigger to cope with the load. So... D size? Something says to me, "nope" again, because of the Stampede. I wanna say six C cell batteries, maybe eight. Think about it; four motors for fly wheels, two motors for dart pushers and possibly one more for the recoil mech. SEVEN MOTORS! (maybe). The two dart pushers might run from the same motor to keep them synchronised, but if we're talking being in sync, then then the recoil should run from the same motor as well, if there is recoil.

Now, if you're thinking "this looks familiar" it's because ArchAngel2014 did the same thing with Stampedes.

But he didn't stop there...

While the Rhino is very cool looking, I don't think it will be able to stand up to the practicality of the Rapidstrike. Then there is the price... AU$136.00! Nope, nope nope.

  1. Ha ha. It will need a trailer for the mags once we get done with modding it!
I suspect it's a d cell tray just in front of the grip, like a Vulcan. This would still have been much cooler with ammo chains

    1. I would mount this on a car with a sun roof if you know what I mean... ;D

  2. It would be good as an emplacement weapon, or for an assault rush.

  3. This looks pretty useless... Unless you mount it on a car like I'm considering... But otherwise, pointless.

  4. Seriously.. this looks amazing. I've been wanting something like this ever since the Vulcan came out and I thought what they could do next for a stationary gun. Yes, you can hold it... but really I think this is a defensive weapon. Leave it on the tripod. I think you just can't evaluate this as a main blaster - it isn't supposed to be, it is situational. You wouldn't criticize a Firestrike for not performing like a Stryfe does. Enjoy this for what it is.

  6. More Details: http://www.blasterlabs.com/2014/07/nerf-rhino-fire-full-details-wal-mart-exclusive-99-99-usd-high-res-and-more/

$100... but so worth it for this beast.. It looks like the side tac rails are gone, but that's fine... they probably wouldn't get used much anyway. Also, the motion effect on the barrels is much more linear now instead of wobbly. You can see from the ghost effect that these barrels definitely recoil. And, if you look closely at the sheaths, you can see that one is expanded while the other is contracted - alternating recoil.

  8. I've seen latest firing video on youtube. The rate of fire is pretty low. But, it's kinda weird. Because , at the very end f the video. The blaster seems to have higher ROF temporarily. I think it may has the speed controller.(It isn't necessary.) Anyway, I hope that one would be a prototype not a finished one. If it is, I won't buy this blaster EVER!!!
